Established in 2001, the Dot NAME generic top-level domain name extension is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other designations people are popular by. Initially, solely third-level registrations were permitted, so if you desired to buy john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already grabbed third-level domains remained online.
