It is not unusual for many users to use weak passwords considering that they are less difficult to remember or to use scripts, templates and plug-ins which aren't updated for a long period of time. In either of these examples, it won't be a challenge for a hacker to take control of the site and after that to take control of other websites which are hosted in the very same account. In order to avoid such a scenario, we've added an advanced level security option called JailHost. It restricts the access that a script has only to its own folder, so if one of your websites is compromised, the attacker will see its content, but will not be able to view any other content inside your account, so the damage will be minimal. Needless to say, using JailHost doesn't substitute the security measures you must always take by keeping your scripts up-to-date and using long and complex passwords, but it will allow you to restrict any damage to one site only.
JailHost in Hosting
We’ve included JailHost for all hosting solutions, so you could protect each of your sites with only a couple of clicks in the Hepsia Control Panel. The option isn't enabled by default to avoid disturbing any sites where you may want visitors or administrators to be able to access content from other folders in your account, but activating it for all other Internet sites is very effortless. Unlike alternative Control Panels where a lot of domains have their files in the very same main folder, all domains and subdomains in Hepsia have their very own folders, which makes the management and the protection of many different websites easier. In the unfortunate scenario of a site getting hacked, your other Internet sites will be protected and we will have several daily backup copies for the infected one, so we can recover it to its original state within a few minutes.
JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our semi-dedicated server solutions come with JailHost provided by default. This feature is not activated automatically when you add a domain since you may wish to use a script that accesses different folders in the account, yet you will be able to activate it without difficulty through your Hepsia Control Panel and protect your other Internet sites with just a couple of clicks. Hepsia is much better to use if you have multiple Internet sites since it keeps them in separate folders and doesn't keep the files for several sites in the same folder as it often happens with alternative Control Panels. This enables us to offer JailHost as all of the folders can be separated from one another. In case that any of your sites gets hacked, we will promptly restore it thanks to the multiple daily backup copies that we'll keep and in the mean time the attacker will not be able to do further damage because the access to your other Internet sites will be cut off.
