Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is designed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one email address, but to look as being sent from another one, frequently with the purpose to scam the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, a unique record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers worldwide have it. The record contains all the e-mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an e-mail address under the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it goes to verifies the SPF record and in case the sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the given domain, the e-mail message will not be forwarded and it'll be discarded. In case you use this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam e-mails which seem to have been sent by you.
SPF Protection in Hosting
If you host your domain names in a hosting account with us and we manage the e-mails for them, you are able to enable SPF protection for them with a couple of clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service can be found in a section of its own where you're able to see which domain names are currently secured. For those which aren't, you can activate the SPF protection solution and configure a lot of things at the same time - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to create a rule that emails can be sent only when your domain names include our MX records. The last solution is the most secure one, and you can use it if we take care of the e-mails for your domain names and do not use another e-mail supplier. The newly created records will be activated within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message with your email addresses.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
The SPF protection feature is featured with all the Linux semi-dedicated servers, so when you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to activate this particular service without difficulty for all your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a really user-friendly interface, so you don't need to be tech-savvy in order to secure your e-mails. You'll only need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be allowed to send out emails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be activated for the domain name that you've selected. As an extra option, we will also give you the ability to restrict the outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even better by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain name in question features our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be managed here and not by some other supplier. Doing so you will get even better control and there won't be any chances for anyone to forge your e-mails for malicious uses.
